Growing up in Hiding / Anne Frank

Anne Frank's story is the most famous story of hiding during the Holocaust. It is the story of a teenage girl who shared a secret wing of an office building with her parents, sister and 4 other people over 25 months. She describes her life in hiding in her famous diary.
A mother’s heroism –saving her baby, Elimeleh Schtamler
.
This is the story of a child who was born in Belgium during the Holocaust, was hidden throughout the war and was saved. In fact, this is the story of a heroic mother, who survived the horrors of the war and returned to search for her child, who had been hidden in various places. This is one of hundreds of stories, in which is reflected the heroism of Jewish mothers in Belgium during the Holocaust. Thanks to them more than 3,000 Belgian Jewish children were saved.
The fate of a child in Polish villages – Joseph Leichter

The story of Joseph Leichter is the story of a friend, who rejected a ten-year-old simply because he was Jewish. Many times ideology blinds the eyes of the individual, and causes him to free himself of responsibility for what occurs. Thus it happened that a ten-year old boy had to beg for his life. Only a very few people were prepared to listen to him, and they were the ones who saved his life.
Robert (Avraham) Perls – A child in hiding

Robert Perls’s story is not just another story of survival which took place during the Holocaust period. It is a story which contains within it the concept “rescue” in all its facets: escape from the carriages of the train hurtling to the extermination camps, life with a false identity and dangerous border crossing. This is a story of bravery, initiative and luck, and especially of human kindness.
Dvora Cohen – A year in hiding

Dvora Cohen (nee Seinfeld) was born in 1927 in the city of Stanislavov, Poland. She was the youngest daughter in the family, and she had an older sister and brother. When war broke out in 1939 Dvora was only 12 years old. At first the Russians invaded Stanislavov in 1941, and after the Germans defeated the Russians in battle, they entered the city. The following is Dvora’s story.

The story of the Trau family from the city of Przmischel in Poland is the story of four life-loving family members and their efforts to survive. Time and again reality had beaten them, and eventually had brought them to places which they never could have imagined. The following is the testimony of the younger daughter of the family, given at the end of the war.
A Jew in spite of everything – Leopold Salomon Ives

Leopold Salomon Ives was seven years old when war broke out. He moved from one hiding place to another until he came to a convent. There he lived as a Christian child. He managed to survive thanks to his ability to adapt to different situations, even though he was a child whose childhood had been stolen from him.
The rescue of Mania and Tsiporah Herbstman during the Holocaust

The Herbstman family lived in the town of Krosno in south-east Poland, near the border with Belorussia. When WWII broke out in September 1939 and Poland was occupied by Nazi Germany, the father, Bezalel, joined the ranks of the partisans. Mania, the mother, and her daughter Tsiporah lived in the ghetto in the town. When Mania realized that remaining in the ghetto meant certain death, she decided to try and save their lives. The following is the story of their rescue by a Polish village family.
Felix Zandman – From Holocaust refugee to international scientist

Felix Zandman was born in 1927 in Grodno, Poland (today Grodno is in Belarus). He survived the Holocaust in hiding, together with his uncle Sender Frejdowicz. The uncle, an engineer by profession, taught his nephew mathematics and physics while they were crowded in an underground pit. After the war they both immigrated to France. Felix earned a doctorate in physics and later founded one of the leading electronic firms in the United States.
Nehama Tec– the young girl who became an important Holocaust researcher.

This is the story of a little blonde blue-eyed girl from Lublin, whose “Aryan” appearance saved her life. During the years of Nazi occupation of Poland, Nehama hid with her family in the home of a Polish family. In spite of her youth, she provided for the family and was their mainstay.
